Violet's story

Violet lives in the Hopefield farm with her mother and father.  Violet's brother died in the war.
Violet is deaf and mute when she was born. She is also a good artist. Violet really wanted to go to art school but it was too expensive.

Violet's mother and father signed a contract for a mining company to drill for precious minerals on  their hill. But there was a cave in at the mine and the drill got stuck in the rubble. The mining company tried to get it out but it was trapped. 

Violet crawled in when she was little and wrapped the drill in cloth so when the company got the drill out they will not have to fix it up again. Violet cared so much about the drill because if the company got the drill out her family will receive a withdraw reward.

It was her one and only chance to go to art school.

BREAKING NEWS:  Boy finds out about TREASURE

A boy named Nicholas Benedict finds out about a hidden treasure. What is the treasure and where is it located?

“I think it is a pile of gold in a treasure chest hidden in the wall,” Mr. Collum, the director of the orphanage explains.  “I knock on walls in the Manor at night.”

 

John Cole says, “I think the treasure is a diamond hidden in the floor.  If I find it I will sell it and buy myself a house.”

Moray, the leader of the Spiders thinks it is a golden sword. “I will slice off everybody’s pants with the sword.”

Breaker, also a Spider, thinks Miss Candace will use all the money to buy drops. “I would not do that. I would buy cookies instead.”

Mrs. Brindle the housekeeper says, “It must be gold. I love gold!!! Ouch my back hurts.”

Mr. Furrow the farmer would buy Rabbit more carrots.  “Wait, maybe I can buy more mules too!”

What does Nicholas think? 

He keeps quiet. 

Will he find it or will he fall into a trap?

This is my meal plan project for my family for 5 days for $150. This is my school project.



































We just had sushi for lunch and it costs $75.

I think that the sushi in my meal plan will take up most of the money.  I will find a cheaper place to buy sushi. Or I will make changes to the plan.














Now we are going to the grocery store.

Organic steak at Longos is too expensive.  we need three pieces of steak. it will cost $60.

Walmart sells 2 steak for $12.

pork chops only cost $4.50 for two pieces.
$9.00 for 4 pieces.

I decided to buy pork chops instead of steak.

fresh burger costs $4 for 2 patties

frozen burgers cost $7.99 for 8 patties.

I decided to buy the frozen burgers.

fresh cod costs $15.24.
At Walmart, a box of frozen fish fillets only costs $4.                      

I bought this instead.

Here is the cooked fish.  It is yummy yummy.

potatoes cost $2.99 a bag.

You cut the potatoes into fries, then bake them in the oven.
hmmm french fries.







Carrots, salad, and buns are all cheaper at Walmart than at Longos.

For sushi, I looked at takeout menus from 3 restaurants.  We ordered 4 California rolls and 2 dynamite rolls and 1 rainbow roll from yame sushi.  It costs $40.50.
